Spanakopita is a savory Greek pie filled with spinach and feta cheese, wrapped in flaky phyllo dough. Its rich, buttery layers and savory filling make it a delightful appetizer or main course.

Ingredients

  • 400 g phyllo dough
  • 300 g spinach, chopped
  • 200 g feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until softened. Add spinach and cook until wilted. Let cool.
  3. In a bowl, mix spinach mixture with feta, eggs, salt, and pepper.
  4. Layer phyllo sheets in the baking dish, brushing each layer with olive oil. Spread the spinach mixture on top and cover with more phyllo sheets.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and crisp. Cool slightly before cutting. Enjoy!
