Ingredients

  • 500 g minced beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • Salt and pepper
  • Grated cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, and cook until softened.
  2. Add minced meat and cook until browned. Stir in carrots, tomato paste, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Pour in the beef broth and simmer until the mixture thickens, about 10 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  5. Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and spread mashed potatoes on top. Smooth with a spatula.
  6. Sprinkle with grated cheese if desired.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and crispy. Enjoy!
