Dolmades are flavorful grape leaves stuffed with a savory mixture of rice, meat, and herbs. These little packages are aromatic and satisfying, perfect as an appetizer or a light meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 jar grape leaves, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup rice
  • 250 g ground beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup pine nuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup fresh dill, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook onion and garlic until softened. Add ground meat and cook until browned.
  2. Stir in rice, pine nuts, dill, parsley, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Place a spoonful of filling on each grape leaf and roll tightly. Arrange in a pot.
  4. Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice. Add enough water to cover the dolmades.
  5. Simmer for 45 minutes until rice is cooked and flavors meld. Enjoy!
