- 2 cups basmati rice
- 500 g chicken or vegetables, cubed
- 2 onions, sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 2 cups water
- Fresh cilantro and mint for garnish
Instructions
- Cook basmati rice until 70% done. Drain and set aside.
- In a large pot, heat ghee. Add onions and ginger-garlic paste, cooking until golden brown.
- Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, chili powder, garam masala, and yogurt. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Stir in chicken or vegetables and cook until done.
- Layer the partially cooked rice over the chicken or vegetable mixture. Add water, cover, and cook on low heat until the rice is fully cooked.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and mint before serving. Enjoy!
