Ingredients

  • 1 cup red lentils (masoor dal)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • Salt
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook red lentils in water until tender. Set aside.
  2. In a large pan, heat ghee. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds, cooking until they begin to pop.
  3. Add chopped onions and garlic, cooking until softened.
  4. Stir in chopped tomatoes and turmeric powder, cooking until the oil separates from the masala.
  5. Add cooked lentils and salt. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving. Enjoy!
