- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs, separated
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 4 tbsp melted butter
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- Jam or syrup, for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk the egg yolks and buttermilk until well combined. Add the melted butter.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the batter.
- Heat an Æbleskiver pan over medium heat and lightly grease each well with butter or oil.
- Fill each well about 3/4 full with batter. Cook until the edges start to set, then use a skewer or fork to turn the Æbleskiver and cook until golden brown on all sides.
- Dust with powdered sugar and serve with jam or syrup. Enjoy!
