Crème Brûlée is a classic French dessert with a creamy vanilla custard base and a crisp caramelized sugar crust. This elegant treat combines a smooth texture with a delightful crack of caramel, making each bite a memorable experience.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 vanilla bean, split and scraped
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup sugar (plus extra for caramelizing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 160°C (325°F). Place ramekins in a baking dish.
  2. Heat cream with vanilla bean in a saucepan until hot. Remove vanilla bean.
  3. Whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale. Gradually add hot cream, stirring constantly.
  4. Strain mixture and pour into ramekins. Bake for 40-45 minutes until set.
  5. Chill, then sprinkle sugar on top and caramelize with a torch. Enjoy!
