- 4 slices of bread
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 200 ml milk
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 100 g Gruyère cheese, grated
- 4 slices ham
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually add milk, whisking constantly until the sauce thickens. Stir in Dijon mustard and half of the grated cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
- Spread the béchamel sauce over two slices of bread. Top with ham and the remaining slices of bread.
- Spread more béchamel sauce on top of the sandwiches and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
- Place the sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
