Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup tamarind pulp
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp rasam powder
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Salt
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Soak tamarind pulp in warm water and extract the juice.
  2. In a pot, heat oil and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, cooking until they begin to pop.
  3. Add minced garlic and chopped tomatoes, cooking until tomatoes are soft.
  4. Stir in turmeric powder, chili powder, black pepper, and rasam powder.
  5. Add tamarind juice and water. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Season with salt and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving. Enjoy!
