Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 large beef slices (top round)
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 4 pickles, sliced
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp flour

Instructions

  1. Lay out the beef slices and spread each with mustard. Top with bacon, onions, and pickles. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Roll up each beef slice and secure with toothpicks.
  3. Heat oil in a large pot and brown the rouladen on all sides.
  4. Add beef broth and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours until tender.
