- 4 large beef slices (top round)
- 4 slices bacon
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 4 pickles, sliced
- 2 tbsp mustard
- Salt and pepper
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup water
- 2 tbsp flour
Instructions
- Lay out the beef slices and spread each with mustard. Top with bacon, onions, and pickles. Season with salt and pepper.
- Roll up each beef slice and secure with toothpicks.
- Heat oil in a large pot and brown the rouladen on all sides.
- Add beef broth and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours until tender.
- Remove rouladen and keep warm. Mix flour with a bit of water to make a slurry, then stir into the pot to thicken the gravy.
- Return rouladen to the pot and heat through. Serve with the gravy. Enjoy!
