Ingredients

  • 1 cup sour rye starter (żur)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp dried marjoram
  • 1/2 lb Polish sausage, sliced
  • 4 hard-boiled eggs, halved
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh dill for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine water, sour rye starter, garlic, onion, bay leaf, and dried marjoram. Bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. Add sliced sausage and cook until heated through, about 10 minutes.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve hot, garnished with halved hard-boiled eggs and fresh dill.
